The British Broadcasting Corp has officially launched its iPlayer service that will allow users to download their favorite programs from the past week and store it on their PCs for a period of 30 days. lt;br / gt;
lt;br / gt;
The service will be officially launched from Thursday, two months after the BBC Trust gave its approval for the start of such a service. The downloaded program will remain on the PC for a period of 30 days, but once the user starts the video, then the viewers can watch it for just seven days before it gets automatically deleted. lt;br / gt;
lt;br / gt;
Announcing the service Ashley Highfield, director of Future Media amp; Technology said, "Your favorite programs from all the BBC 's network TV channels will be available to download over the Internet, and watch on your PC without advertising for up to a week after transmission. " lt;br / gt;
lt;br / gt;
Highfield added that the BBC is thinking of offering similar services for cable and mobile devices. The service can be accessed only in the UK and users can watch a number of programs including sports events, television programs and documentaries. lt;br / gt;
lt;br / gt;
The download time of the videos will be proportional to its run-time, meaning that a 60 minute program will be downloaded in 60 minutes. While the service is free for users, they will not be able to copy the programs on DVDs or any other storage devices since the BBC has implemented an anti-piracy technology in the programs.
