Cairo - The actions of terrorists in Iraq were incomprehensible, said Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Ghait on Thursday in response to attacks that left over 200 people dead in the last 24 hours. It was impossible to understand what terrorists in Iraq were trying to achieve as they were killing people who did not have anything to do with politics, Abul Ghait said in Cairo.
"We deeply regret that there are forces in Iraq who spare no effort to nip in the bud every attempt to stabilize and reconcile the country, " the Egyptian foreign minister said Thursday.
Ghait emphasized that Egypt would nevertheless continue its efforts to help Iraqis, citing the planned visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to Egypt and the Foreign Minister Conference on Iraq to take place May 3.
