Greening our pets lives
In recent years there has been a surge in the number of eco-friendly products dedicated to helping people 'green' the lives of their dogs, cats, birds and a whole host of other pets.
The same rules of maintaining a nutritious diet apply to our family pets. Manufacturers of conventional pet food do not need to list the ingredients so this pet food can end up containing a large amount of preservatives, fillers, salt, sugar, food dyes and chemicals. These can be totally unhealthy and have a negative impact on our pets' immune systems as well as lowering their quality of life. But there are definitely eco-friendly alternatives available that can easily replace the normal pet food you find on the supermarket shelves and provide them with an optimal all-natural diet.
Organic pet food is rapidly gaining in popularity. This type of pet food is when the ingredients have been gown on land where no toxic pesticides or fertilisers have been used. Natural pet food is another alternative and this is food that has been made without any preservatives or additives being chucked into the mix.
Many dog food products are bulked up with wheat and dogs, in particular, can suffer from a range of diseases or dysfunctions that are related to the gluten in wheat. Finding gluten-free pet food can really help if your dog has digestive issues, diabetes or even itching problems. Also increasingly popular is holistic pet food, which has been developed and created with both a combination of benefits to the body and mind.
Grooming is another concern. We all like our pets to look good but many of the traditional grooming products are often loaded with nasty chemicals. Finding grooming products, such as shampoo, that are based on all-natural ingredients can make a major difference to your pet's health as well as be kinder to the planet.
Greening your pet can mean they have a healthier, happier and longer life without compromising the environment.
