ASUS U Bamboo Collection Laptop: Smart, stylish and functional

The ASUS U-Series Bamboo Notebooks are not only visually exquisite and made with natural materials, but they are powered by Intel Core i5 processors. This means they have remarkably smart performance and an extra long battery life. Crafted using sustainable brown Moso bamboo that reduces the amount of plastic in the device by 15%, these sleek and modern nature-inspired ultraportables are ranking high in both looks and performance.

More than just a pretty face, these notebooks are enhanced with innovative Intel, Wireless Display Technology, switchable graphics, and USB 3.0. The bottom line is that they deliver smart, fast, energy-efficient performance with grace and style

ASUS allowed an exclusive viewing of the U-Series Bamboo Notebook before the official start of this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih said that the company has been designing environmentally friendly products since 2008 and the Bamboo notebook is simply a natural evolution of those efforts.

These bamboo notebooks are receiving great reviews from industry insiders as well. Both CNET and LaptopMag.com have awarded the U33JC-A1 bamboo model 4 out of 5 stars. LaptopMag.com said, "Upon first looking at the U33Jc, you can't help but be impressed with its premium craftsmanship and organic vibe. We love the fine grain of the smoky brown bamboo in both the lid and the palm rest, which is complemented by a more high-tech brushed aluminum deck around the keyboard. Even the touchpad and single mouse button get the bamboo treatment. Why bamboo? Not only is it one of the strongest plants on earth, it's also among the most plentiful."

Still, some critics have been quick to say that these notebooks are faux-eco friendly, complaining that besides using bamboo instead of plastic, the notebooks can hardly boast serious validation of being good for the environment. However most critics feel it is necessary to applaud any effort on the part of the electronics industry to reduce, reuse or recycle
