IOC vows to make sporting venues greener

The IOC president pledges to make sporting venues more sustainable and reduce their impact on the environment. 2012 will not only mark the year of the next Olympics, hosted by London, it is also the twentieth anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, better known as Earth Summit, which set the benchmark for expectations and goals for organisations and governments for climate change and the responsibility for impact on the environment.

Early April 2011 brought a close to the 11th annual RecycleMania recycling competition, which drew participation from 630 colleges and universities from across the US. 2011 saw more than 91 million lbs of recyclable and organic materials recovered and recycled.

The 'Roman's Revenge' rapper attended the 'Christie's Green Auction: A Bid To Save The Earth' event in New York with her hair sculpted to resemble a tall shrubbery and dyed half green, half white. She rounded off the look with a black leotard, tights and boots coupled with pink lipstick.
