MCLEAN, Va. - (Business Wire) ZyLAB, an innovative developer of Information Access Solutions, today announced that Pieter Varkevisser has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the company in its next stage of aggressive global growth. As part of the transition, former president and CEO, Dr. Johannes Scholtes, will assume the roles of Chairman of ZyLAB’s supervisory board and Chief Strategy Officer. As the new President and CEO, Mr. Varkevisser is responsible for helping the company to capitalize on market opportunities, develop strategic partnerships and position the company for sustained growth. Prior to joining ZyLAB, Mr. Varkevisser was an industry expert with Waterland Private Equity Investments and also acted as the interim CEO of Fa-med, one of its portfolio companies. From April 2004 until October 2008 he was CEO of SDL Tridion. During his tenure at SDL Tridion, the company experienced 17 consecutive quarters of solid profitability and high growth. Before becoming CEO at SDL Tridion, Mr. Varkevisser was CEO of DataDistilleries and worked for almost two decades in management positions within product development at several companies.

As Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Chief Strategy Officer, Dr. Scholtes will research strategic new technologies and products for the company and help bring those solutions to market through continued work with key customers and industry analysts. Scholtes, who was recently nominated to join the board of AIIM International in 2010, will also continue his professorship and appointment as “Extraordinary Chair of Text Mining” for the Department of Knowledge Engineering at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
