LONDON - (Business Wire) Zoom Media Corp and its subsidiary, ClubCom International Limited, a leading provider of digital out-of-home media in Health & Fitness venues in the UK and around the world, announced today its acquisition of Gym Screen Media (“Gym TV”), a 160 venue digital channel located in high-end fitness centers across the UK, including David Lloyd, Virgin Active and Total Fitness. Terms of the private transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition, Zoom’s fourth in just over a year in the digital fitness space worldwide, expands Zoom’s network of fitness facilities to over 650 digital venues across the UK and over 2,200 across the globe and makes Zoom the clear worldwide leader in this category. “Digital media is a dramatic game changer and we believe this is the ideal time to invest in offering our advertisers, as well as our venue partners more solutions to address their respective challenges,” said François de Gaspé Beaubien, Chairman & CEO of Zoom Media.
“We are thrilled to acquire one of the leading providers of customised digital media for the UK fitness industry,” said Dennis Roche, President of Zoom Media. “Amalgamating the Gym TV network with our own will allow us to offer critical mass of the gym audience for advertisers seeking to reach fitness members across the UK market.”
The deal follows Zoom’s announcement, just six weeks ago, that it launched a dedicated national sales force in the UK. “The Gym TV estate will enable Zoom to offer even more targeting capabilities for our advertisers and will increase our audience to over 20 million monthly impacts,” affirmed Jill Lee, Sales Director, Zoom Media UK.
In addition to the UK, Zoom currently operates the largest fitness digital media network in both the US and Canada, with almost 2,000 venues between the two countries, and has established itself as the largest and fastest growing provider of those services through a series of acquisitions and new partner agreements over the last 12 months. Zoom raised $30MM from ABS Capital Partners in March 2009, to fund continued expansion around the world.
