LOUISVILLE, KY -- 10/13/08 --
ZirMed, a nationally recognized revenue
cycle management firm, announced today that it has begun readying its
transaction processing platforms for the upcoming migration of the HIPAA
transactions to version 5010 as well as the adoption of the ICD-10 code
sets. ZirMed's analysts actively participate in the
standards-setting process through organizations such as X12 and WEDI and
are keenly aware of the changes associated with the proposed rules. ZirMed
is currently performing an extensive analysis of the impact that these
changes will have on its customers and developing solutions to assist in
the migration process.
The migrations to the 5010 and ICD-10 have far reaching implications not
only for healthcare providers, but also for healthcare software vendors and
payers as well. Leveraging the strength and flexibility of its web-based
architecture, ZirMed will support a phased migration which will accept both
the current and future versions of these transactions and ICD standards.
When necessary, ZirMed will also translate data formats to mitigate
potential reimbursement disruptions and ensure that all of its customers
and business partners have a seamless transition to the new standards.
"ZirMed understands the difficulties that providers face while navigating
healthcare's complex and continually changing landscape, and thus we
proactively monitor and develop solutions for emerging issues in the
industry," said Doug Fielding, ZirMed's Chief Information Officer. "Our
proven technology solutions have helped thousands of providers across the
nation overcome healthcare's largest regulatory and administrative
obstacles. We expect to meet the 5010 and
ICD-10 conversion process with the same success as we had with HIPAA, NPI
and scores of other EDI enhancements in the past."
