Programming Addressing National Childhood Epidemic to Air on XM Platform Week of June 9 WASHINGTON, June 6
WASHINGTON, June 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As part of the expanding conversation about childhood obesity in the U.S., XM Radio will broadcast dedicated programming exploring the causes, impact and possible solutions to end the growing epidemic that affects as many as one in three children in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The week of special programming begins Monday, June 9, on XM's talk and lifestyle channel "Take Five" (XM 155) and the exclusive "Oprah & Friends" channel (XM 156).

Programming highlights include:

-- "Good Morning America Radio" (weekdays, 8am-12noon ET on XM 155) will
   feature interviews with author and journalist Abbey Ellin, whose book
   Teenage Waistland chronicles her own adolescent struggles with food and
   weight, as well as special reports about the health risks and possible
   strategies to combat childhood obesity from Oprah & Friends hosts Dr.
   Mehmet Oz and Bob Greene, plus regular GMA Radio contributors Ann
   Pleshette Murphy and Andrea Smith.

-- "Broadminded" (weekdays, 12noon-3pm ET on XM 155), will focus on the
   importance of nutrition, exercise and healthy eating habits in
   combating childhood obesity with a variety of guests, including
   Baseball Hall-of-Famer and XM host Cal Ripken, Jr., former presidential
   candidate Gov. Mike Huckabee, Dr. Dean Edell, Yahoo Shine health expert
   Jessica Ashley, The Washington Post's Sally Squires and Dr. Kathleen
   Keller from Columbia University.  Additionally, bestselling author and
   "America's Psychiatrist" Dr. Keith Ablow and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach,
   "America's Rabbi" and Oprah & Friends' on-air host, will join the
   conversation to discuss family dynamics surrounding childhood obesity
   and positive ways to talk to children about their eating habits.

-- "Life's Work with Lisa Belkin" (Tuesdays, 6-7pm ET on XM 155) looks at
   the connection between childhood obesity and school lunches with South
   Beach Diet guru Dr. Arthur Agatston and chef Ann Cooper.

-- "The Bob Greene Show" (Fridays, 10-11pm ET on XM 156) will feature
   "Oprah and Friends" resident fitness and nutrition expert Bob Greene in
   conversation with Congressman Jay Inslee (D-WA) about policy changes
   that can ensure the nutritional health of children in the school
   system, and author Julia Griggs Havey on how families can live
   healthier lives together.
