UNIONDALE, N.Y. - (Business Wire) WRM America, a leading specialty insurance and alternative risk management company, announced that William J. Fishlinger, chairman and CEO, will be honored today by The Insurance Federation of New York, Inc. (IFNY) at their 95th Annual Luncheon, which is being held at Cipriani Wall Street. Mr. Fishlinger will be presented with the IFNY Free Enterprise Award, given annually since 1913, which recognizes individuals whose creativity and initiative enables free enterprise. “Bill is an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word,” said Lance Albright, current IFNY president. “In addition to his innovative work in the New York insurance market during the last 30 years, including recently founding a national property and casualty company focused on the risk financing needs of schools, government and non-profit institutions, he has made significant contributions to our community and beyond through his efforts with the Diabetes Research Institute and the Future Leadership Foundation, a charitable organization he founded with his wife Joan.” Previous recipients of the IFNY Free Enterprise Award include Martin J. Sullivan, Frank J. Coyne, Maurice “Hank” R. Greenberg, Sanford J. Weill, and Donald Trump. Following the award presentation, the featured speaker will be David A. Sampson, president and CEO of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI). In 1978, Mr. Fishlinger founded Wright Risk Management, a New York-based insurance and risk financing consulting firm. Subsequently he, along with leaders from public education and government, formed the first public sector cooperative purchasing programs in New York State: the New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal (NYSIR) and the New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal (NYMIR). In 2008, Mr. Fishlinger teamed with Aquiline Capital Partners LLC to form WRM America. Mr. Fishlinger is a graduate of St. John's University School of Law and the University of Maryland. He is a longstanding member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association. In addition to the Future Leadership Foundation, Mr. Fishlinger also participates in several other charitable organizations and is currently on the national board of the Diabetes Research Institute.
