LAS VEGAS - (Business Wire) WorldDoc, Inc. and its nonprofit arm the WorldDoc Foundation announced today a partnership to provide the Greater Ocala Health Information Trust, Inc. (known as Healthy Ocala and Greater Marion County) access to WorldDocs 24/7 Personal Health Management System throughout the Ocala, Florida region.

WorldDocs 24/7 will provide patients in the Ocala area with secure, personalized health information including a Personal Health Record for storing health data, an interactive self-triage symptom evaluator, health assessment tools and a medical library. WorldDocs 24/7 Personal Health Management System (consumer portal) will be integrated with PatientKeepers Health Information Exchange (physician portal) and other existing and planned resources in the community.

The WorldDoc 24/7 Personal Health Management System is an intuitively comprehensive online patient portal that truly emphasizes Personal Health Management empowering patients to take more responsibility for their healthcare, said Mel Seek, MD, Chairman of the Greater Ocala Health Information Trust.

Healthy Ocala ultimately seeks to provide Greater Marion County with an Integrated Community Health Information System. This system will serve the needs of patients, physicians and other health care providers and facilities as well as the community at large, including employers, with the goals of improving health care delivery and outcomes and the overall health of the residents. The integration of WorldDocs consumer health tools and PatientKeepers clinical health systems is further enhanced by Healthy Ocalas community involvement effort, which will leverage engagement and resources from local hospitals, the Marion County Medical Society, the Chamber of Commerce, retirement communities, insurance brokers, training institutions, churches and community-based organizations. This involvement helps keep implementation and operating costs low and adds to the financial sustainability of the Integrated Community Health Information System.

WorldDoc Foundation will provide a low cost community license for its 24/7 Personal Health Management System for Healthy Ocala to re-market to small employers as well as to retired, unemployed and uninsured residents through community organizations. WorldDoc and Healthy Ocala will jointly market the 24/7 Personal Health Management System to employers that self-insure or that have large employment bases in Marion County. By the WorldDoc Foundation offering us a deeply discounted community license for the Personal Health Management System and integrating it with our Health Information Exchange, we are able to achieve our goal of a self-sustaining, patient-centric, physician-friendly and community-responsive Integrated Community Health Information System, said Robert Holloran, Vice Chairman of the Greater Ocala Health Information Trust.

By sharing revenue with Healthy Ocala, the WorldDoc Foundation is providing this new RHIO (Regional Health Information Organization) with the opportunity to be self-sustaining right from their start. We believe that this is a model that other RHIOs may want to consider, said Garth Winckler, President and CEO of WorldDoc Foundation. Adding a consumer portal and the ability for patients to directly participate in the communitys health information exchange improves health outcomes and provides operating support for the RHIO.
