LAKE FOREST, Ill., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Lake Forest College students, faculty and staff on the campus, and visitors to the university, are benefitting from a new cell site that Verizon Wireless has activated that expands network coverage and increases capacity throughout the entire campus and as far east as Lake Michigan, west to Green Bay Rd., south to E. Westleigh Rd., and to north Spruce Ave.

"This new cell site on the Lake Forest College campus reflects our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high-quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless," said T.J. Fox, president-Illinois/Wisconsin Region, Verizon Wireless. "Now, more customers on campus and around the area will have an even better experience as they make calls; send e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones."

"This network enhancement will also further enable Verizon Wireless' network to handle increased call volume as college football fans head to Farwell Field to watch the Foresters finish out the season," added Fox.

The new cell site on the Lake Forest College campus is part of Verizon Wireless' ongoing efforts to expand coverage, increase capacity, and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Illinois and throughout the nation. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed--$5.5 billion on average every year--to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. Since the company was formed in 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested $1.2 billion on improvements to its network in Illinois.
