LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- 11/06/09 --
West End Theatre Booking is delighted to announce a partnership with Mousetrap Theatre Projects, a theatre education charity committed to making theatre accessible for disadvantaged young people.
Founded in 1997, the charity has taken more than 75,000 young people to West End and London theatres with best seats at Pounds Sterling 5 or less. To enhance the theatre visit, Mousetrap Theatre Projects runs 17 innovative access, education and audience development programmes targeting young people through London state mainstream and special needs secondary schools, families and community youth groups.
Established over 20 years ago by Managing Director Andrew Peterson, West End Theatre Bookings has enjoyed two fantastic years of sales and growth, especially through its market-leading website www.uktickets.co.uk. As London's fastest growing ticket agency, the company has been actively looking for opportunities to give something back to the industry in which it has thrived.
In a novel and highly visible partnership, for every 100 tickets sold through its website, West End Theatre Bookings will fund the purchase of one ticket for Mousetrap Theatre Projects. The goal of this collaboration is to fund a theatre visit for a class of students each month from a school identified by Mousetrap Theatre Projects. Over a year's sponsorship, close to 1,000 young people will be given the opportunity to attend outstanding West End productions.
The partnership is promoted via a meter on the home page of West End Theatre Bookings' website which shows customers how many tickets remain to be sold until the next ticket is donated. Since going live with the partnership last month, the company has already donated funding to send 100 young people to the theatre through one of Mousetrap Theatre Projects' programmes. The partnership has been well received by customers buying tickets through www.uktickets.co.uk who are pleased to see that their ticket purchase will make a difference.
Director of Mousetrap Theatre Projects Susan Whiddington said, "This is a fantastic partnership for our charity, allowing us to take many more young people to the theatre each year. Many of these students will be attending the theatre for the first time and each visit will be supported by an educational programme. We are most grateful to West End Theatre Bookings for its unique approach to supporting our work."
Andrew Peterson, Managing Director of West End Theatre Bookings said, "Theatregoing audiences are changing; we see that in the people that are buying from us. More affordable London theatre tickets and special deals are helping bring the price down which is great for getting people in to the theatre who might not have gone before. But there will always be groups that through lack of opportunity or finance will not be able to experience the magic of theatre. We have long been admirers of the work Mousetrap Theatre Projects do to make theatre accessible to all young people and are pleased to be making regular contributions to support this."
