WaveMaker Adds Informix Founder to Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO - (Business Wire) WaveMaker, a provider of open source visual tools for Web application development, today announced the appointment of Roger Sippl to the Board of Directors. With over 30 years of experience in building and managing enterprise software companies, Sippl will help guide WaveMaker as it continues to expand its Ajax open source Web application development platform. The company also closed $4.5 million in funding this month which will help fuel the continued growth of the companys developer community.

Roger Sippl has a rich history of both starting companies and investing in the winning efforts of other entrepreneurs in the data management enterprise software industry, and currently invests through his own investment entity, Sippl Investments, LLC. Previously Roger was founder and CEO of Informix Software, where under his direction Informix pioneered SQL relational databases, 4GL application development tools and OLTP database technology before being acquired by IBM. Sippl was also co-founder of The Vantive Corporation, founder and CEO of Visigenic Software, Chairman and CEO of Above All Software and currently serves on the boards of Interwoven and Demand Reports. Other notable investments in this area include Illustra, Versata, BroadVision, SupportSoft and Rearden Commerce. He earned a B.S. in computer science from the University of California at Berkeley.

At Informix, our 4GL tools put unprecedented power in the hands of business developers, and I see this level of power being given to developers again with the adoption of Enterprise 2.0, said Roger Sippl. Sippl joins other database and technology pioneers on the WaveMaker Board of Directors, including Mitchell Kertzman, former CEO of Powersoft and Sybase and Partner at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners; and Irwin Gross, former co-founder of Wilson Sonsini IP Strategy Practice and Partner at Worldview Technology Partners. Together, Hummer Winblad, Worldview Technology Partners and Sippl Investments invested $4.5 million dollars in WaveMaker in Q1 2008. This additional round of funding will be allocated for continued development of WaveMakers growing open source community.
