WASHINGTON - (Business Wire) washingtonpost.com, an award-winning news and information Web site, today launched a weeklong interactive series on weddings that explores the ins and outs of modern-day nuptials from proposals to planning to payment. Updated daily, the feature includes live discussions, photo galleries, videos, interactive polls and fresh stories and blog posts. www.washingtonpost.com/weddings

The series begins with tales of two weddings: one that uproots the Wedding Industrial Complex status quo and another that pulls out all the stops for an elegant evening at the St. Regis. Are all the pre-wedding anxieties, dress debacles, flower frenzies and Bridezilla-dom worth it in the end? Washington Post Magazine writers Rachel Manteuffel and Caitlin Gibson try to convince one bride-to-be that the answer is no, persuading her to let the wedding-weary writers plan a completely non-traditional exchange of vows. In contrast, cadres of professional pioneers stage a dream wedding for a couple and their 150 awestruck guests. The features will include videos, photo galleries, and a live discussion Monday at noon ET.

The rest of the week focuses on how readers can have their perfect wedding, from City Guides directory of where to have a rehearsal dinner or bachelorette party to its database of jewelers, florists, salons, bakeries and more. Erin Torneo and Valerie Krause, authors of "The Bridal Wave: A Survival Guide to the Everyone-I-Know-Is-Getting-Married Years" sit down for a live discussion on Tuesday at 1 pm ET to talk about staying sane in a marriage-crazed world.

Additional live discussions will be with Denise and Alan Fields, authors of "Bridal Bargains" and "Bridal Bargains Workbook on Wednesday at noon ET, with Slates Dear Prudence at 1 pm ET Thursday and Miles Stiverson of TheKnot.com at 1 pm ET Friday.

Who do you want passing the salt at your family gatherings? Amy Winehouse? Marilyn Manson? The Celebritology blog delves into the world of celebrity weddings, including topics from who would be the worst celebrity to marry into your family to the new low-key reception fad.

The series will also answer the looming questions of what to wear, what to play for the first dance, what to do with young children, where to honeymoon, and how to write thank-you notes.

The series presents a buffet of interactive and informative pieces that complement peak wedding season, encouraging readers to express their opinions, get advice, or just sit back and watch as creativity and humor wed in a weeklong celebration of I dos.

The full series can be found at www.washingtonpost.com/weddings.
