Thomas brings more than a decade of online publishing expertise to Viewpoints, along with lengthy stints as a contributing writer at The New York Times, The Village Voice, Playboy magazine and The Chicago Tribune. As the former Editor of Playboy.com, one of the world's top Internet sites with more than 6 million unique visitors per month, he was responsible for developing Playboy's online content strategy, including establishing the company's original mobile content. In his new role as Viewpoints.com's managing editor, Thomas will use that experience to create compelling new features and content franchises to drive new users to the site.
Obel co-founded Fox & Obel, Chicago's premiere specialty food emporium, which opened to the public in the summer of 2001 and exceeded $10 million in sales in its first 12 months. The 22,000 square-foot store was honored by the NASFT as a "Retailer of the Year" in 2004. Ken's retail experience coupled with his experience at HighBeam, a direct to consumer online information service, makes him uniquely qualified to talk to leading retailers and brand about leveraging the Viewpoints Technology Platform to build online communities that help to drive traffic and conversion, provide customer insight and build brand equity.
Viewpoints Network's new corporate office is located at 222 W. Hubbard Street, in the heart of Chicago's River North District. The office build out was designed by Gensler, a global architecture, design, planning and consulting firm.
