BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - (Business Wire) In the spirit of School Safety Month, Varitronics is doing its part to raise awareness and help in the prevention of the H1N1 flu virus. Varitronics, maker of VariQuest Visual Learning Tools, is sending out free posters with tips for preventing the spread of disease within schools. Principals all over the country will receive a laminated poster with five action steps for maintaining a safe learning environment during flu season. All posters were created using the VariQuest Poster Maker 3600.

School safety is an especially important issue during flu season, and educating students about the best practices for staying healthy is something that Varitronics is glad to be a part of.

“This is an opportunity for us to reach out and help schools while also demonstrating another valuable use for our products,” said Richard Garrity, director of sales and marketing at Varitronics.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), approximately 55 million students and 7 million staff attend the more than 130,000 public and private schools in the U.S. each day. By implementing certain recommendations and specific courses of action, schools and health officials can help protect one-fifth of the country’s total population from flu.

The H1N1 prevention poster is a great tool to help introduce the importance of healthy behavior at schools. It can be posted in classrooms and hallways to keep school safety on the minds of students and staff. While health officials have urged students and staff to stay home from school if they feel sick, it is still important to remind students that they can take steps to limit their risk of catching or spreading the flu at school.

Open communication between students and staff is a good way to implement safe practices during flu season, and visual reminders can help students to form healthy habits. For additional ways VariQuest can be used to encourage a safe and healthy learning environment, or to request free H1N1 prevention posters from VariQuest, visit www.variquest.com/schoolsafety. A comprehensive Communication Toolkit for Schools to prevent the spread of flu can be found on the CDC’s Web site.

VariQuest Visual Learning Tools are designed to have a long-lasting impact on student achievement, student engagement and professional development in schools. For more information, visit www.variquest.com.
