The government's $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers has been extended, and the program has been expanded to include a credit of up to $6,500 for move-up buyers. United-Bilt Homes, a leader in custom home building in the Southeast for more than 50 years, is prepared to help qualified consumers take full advantage of this popular program. Visit www.UBH.com for more information.

Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) November 7, 2009 -- With the extension and expansion of the federal government's tax credit program, United-Bilt Homes is prepared to help qualified consumers purchase a new home. As a further incentive, UBH is offering qualified buyers zero down, 100 percent financing and no payments for six months.

For details about financing options as well as information about the company, visit www.UBH.com.

In addition to extending the $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers, the government has expanded this popular program to include a credit of up to $6,500 for move-up buyers. In both cases, participants must sign a contract to buy a home on or before April 30, 2010.

The government's announcement comes as United-Bilt Homes -- a leading custom builder in the Southeast for more than a half-century -- unveils 22 new floor plans, ranging in size from cozy starters to spacious two-story homes, well-suited for move-up buyers.

According to officials, income limits for both first-time and move-up buyers would be increased to $125,000 for an individual and $225,000 for couples filing a joint return, and the cost of the house can't be more than $800,000.

"That probably covers two-thirds to 75 percent of the move-up buyer market," says Robert Dietz, assistant vice president for tax and policy issues at the National Association of Home Builders.

To be eligible for the credit, buyers would need to complete the sale by June 30, officials said. Purchases made in 2010 could be claimed on the buyer's 2009 tax return. Home buyers would not have to repay the credit as long as they live in the house for three years after the purchase date. There are exceptions for members of the military serving overseas.

Move-up buyers are eligible "so long as the home they are leaving has been used as their principal residence for five years or more," a spokesperson said.

The tax credits coupled with UBH's financing options create an opportunity both for first-time and move-up buyers."Unlike many conventional lenders, we have financing available at attractive rates for qualified buyers. Lumber prices are at an all-time low, and we offer the highest quality homes for the best price," said Donald R. Pitts, President of United-Bilt Homes. "And now, with these generous tax credits, there's never been a better time to buy a custom-built home."

ABOUT UBH: United-Bilt Homes has been a leader in the home building industry since 1958, specializing in on-your-land construction of new homes. The company grew out of a building supply business, and began to construct homes in the Shreveport area; then quickly expanded into several surrounding states.

Since its inception, United-Bilt has constructed over 30,000 homes in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
