CALGARY, ALBERTA -- 11/01/09 -- On Nov 1, 2009 UEnd is launching it's Give up a Gift: Challenge in all the schools in Canada. The premise behind this campaign is for the schools to compete by giving and receiving the most gifts that end poverty this holiday season. These gifts are in the form of gift cards purchased at www.uend.org as a team member of your school. The more students each school gets involved the better. The school with the most students involved combined with amount of money raised will win the title of "World Changeyest School in Canada."

To spread the word, we will be capitalizing on motivated youth and social media. In fact, we have over 100 youth in their start gates who have created their Facebook page Give up A Gift-a UEnd project and the project isn't even launched yet.

The details of the program are as such. Gifts cards are purchased at www.uend.org in lieu of or alongside of a regular Christmas gift. The schools register as a team. The title, "world changey-est school" will garner media coverage that will focus on their success and the people that made it happen. Reinforcement goes a long way towards helping people continue to change the world. That is what UEnd is all about, giving tools to the everyday person to help them change the world for good.

Just think, if we get every student to ask for just one gift of $20.00 to be given in the form of a UEnd gift card... we can raise some serious money towards ending poverty in the developing world. We know that there are 1 in 5 people in the world "living" on less than $1.07 per day, UEnd believes that everyone has a role to play in seeing the end of poverty in our lifetime. Expanding on this notion, if we could get every person in Calgary to give up one gift then we could raise $20,000,000.00 towards fighting poverty.

UEnd fights poverty through sustainable community development projects that our approved partners deliver in communities around the world. We believe in long term lasting change; a hand up instead of a hand out.

Would you give up one gift this holiday season if it meant ending extreme poverty in the world? Take the Give up a Gift Challenge!
