profession and without diligent attention to safety it can also be life
threatening. At its 2nd Annual Contractor Appreciation BBQ and 1st Annual
Safety Driven Awards event day, Minnesota Laborers Employers Cooperation and
Education Trust (LECET), a joint non-profit labor and management organization,
presented the Safety Driven Award of Excellence to 22 signatory contractors
who exemplify the essence of construction site safety.

Safety Driven is a safety incentive program created by Minnesota LECET to
help signatory contractors and Laborer Union members improve in the area of
worksite safety. The program offers quarterly and annual award recognition
throughout the year culminating in the Annual Laborers Award during the fall
of each year, where one Union Laborer will be randomly drawn for the annual
recognition award.

LECET. "Safety is important to both the Union members and contractors to
ensure the health of workers and in building high quality construction."
Currently, there are more than 11,000 Skilled Construction Laborers
working on highway and commercial construction, environmental and public works
