EVERETT, WA -- 11/09/09 --
Twenty-one educational institutions in Canada
and the U.S. will receive advanced infrared imaging cameras worth a total
of more than $100,000 from Fluke Corporation, the world's leading supplier
of handheld test and measurement equipment, through the Fluke Education
Grant Program.
Each winning school will receive one Fluke Thermal Imager kit including
software, two rechargeable batteries, charger, operation manual and USB
adapter. These Fluke imagers are designed for inspecting building envelopes
to spot leaks and find places where energy is being lost. For more on Fluke
thermal imagers and other test tools for weatherization, home and
commercial energy audits and building inspections, visit the Fluke
Weatherization website.
The Fluke Weatherization Grant Program, announced in July 2009, drew
applications from more than 100 high schools, community colleges,
universities and training programs across the U.S. and Canada. Winners were
chosen by a review committee of industry professionals who examined many
program elements, including the breadth of course offerings and the types
and numbers of certificates and degrees conferred.
"It is a privilege to contribute to training the young technicians who will
keep our homes and businesses warm, comfortable and energy-efficient in the
future," said Kirsten Paust, General Manager, Fluke Thermography. "We were
extremely impressed by the quality and depth of these programs. These
advanced Fluke test instruments will help make them even better."
Interest in energy conservation, home energy inspections and weatherization
services has soared in the wake of the energy price spike of 2008 and
passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which
expands federal financial assistance for weatherizing the homes of
low-income citizens and includes a training and technical assistance
program for training contractors.
