Travel speech therapy opportunities for speech language pathologists on the rise according to Travel Therapy staffing agency Cirrus Allied.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 10, 2009 -- Travel Therapy staffing agency Cirrus Allied has observed a significant increase recently in the number of school based Travel Speech Therapy job opportunities according to Cirrus Allied President Greg Allen.

“As of today, there are over 2,000 SLP jobs available in schools throughout the United States, and this is the middle of the school year,” said Allen. “Even in school districts facing hiring freezes and lay-offs, speech language pathologists are still being hired since their salaries are paid by Medicaid.”

Under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2002, every student is to be tested and treated by an SLP at no charge. Any child with a disability is required to spend a certain amount of time with a therapist each year.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Employment of speech-language pathologists is expected to grow 11 percent from 2006 to 2016. Employment in educational services will increase with the growth in elementary and secondary school enrollments, including enrollment of special education students. Greater awareness of the importance of early identification and diagnosis of speech and language disorders in young children will also increase employment.”

For Speech Language Pathologists, school based Travel Speech Therapy jobs provide a host of benefits that can’t be found in a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Speech Language Pathologists in schools collaborate with teachers and parents to develop and implement individual or group programs, provide counseling, and support classroom activities. In a school setting, SLPs work exclusively with children, enjoy a weekday work schedule and don’t work in the summer. Also, most school systems will accept both CCC and CFY certifications.

“There are a significant amount of Travel Speech Therapy jobs available right now for Speech Language Pathologists across the country,” said Allen. “The jobs we have available at Cirrus offer industry-leading pay, openings in prime locations, PTO, and medical insurance.”
