BOCA RATON, FL -- 04/22/08 --
Although the housing market continues to
suffer and the cost of gasoline has reached record highs, the travel
nursing profession continues to grow by leaps and bounds. The health care
sector remains strong, fueled by the demands of aging baby boomers and
their children, reports the Associated Press.
American Traveler, the
nation's largest independent travel nursing agency, reports March has been
the strongest month of 2008 due to the dramatic increase of travel nurse
jobs with lucrative compensation and benefits
offered to clients nationwide.
"Salary ranges for nurses have reached $100,000 and more for select travel nursing
jobs, depending on specialty and location," said Mary Kay Hull, VP of
Recruitment. "In addition, our company is going to great lengths to help
nurses counterbalance living expenses and the rising cost of fuel at the
pumps."
Notwithstanding its excellent reputation in the industry for outstanding
client support, high travel nurse pay and free private housing, American
Traveler sign on bonuses make it easier for travel nurses to save for
retirement and enjoy vacations. Unlike permanent staff nurses and
professionals in other sectors who may have to cut back on leisurely
activities amid the current economic downturn, travel nurses don't, Hull
said.
"Not only have we raised the bar on travel nurse salaries by as much as 20
percent in the last year, we have incorporated new benefits such as pre-paid
gas cards on select assignments, a huge plus for professionals who
typically do a lot of driving and sightseeing."
As salaries for staff RN positions have flat-lined, hourly pay for American
Traveler travel nursing jobs has rapidly increased in the Pacific Northwest
and in Connecticut, a state known for high travel nurse pay. Add in
lucrative benefits such as free private housing, travel and licensure
reimbursements, free health insurance and education, and it's no wonder
more RNs are choosing to travel as the economy cools.
"Take the cost of rent, health insurance and gas out of your financial
picture and you find that your quality of life improves significantly.
We are prepared to give travel nurses everything they need to lessen the
burden of living expenses while at the same time moving their careers
forward," said Hull.
