Virginia Beach, VA (PRWEB) November 24, 2009 -- Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center and Sentara College of Health Sciences present Mark A. Johnson M.A., LMFT and a special Professional Forum for health professionals called Healing from the Inside Out: Health and Wellness in Family Systems on December 5th. There are four more chances to learn about the healing and human development practice of Systemic Family Constellations on December 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th. “Of the many continuing education and personal development workshops I have attended, Mark’s teaching and facilitation rank in the top 10. His commitment to healing comes from the heart” Roxanne Peterson PhD.

Mark Johnson has a unique approach to Systemic Constellations work (SCW), partnering with specialists in other disciplines and the arts creating inspiring programs. Lisa Marie Main of Continuum Consulting in Denver, Colorado says “Mark is an inspiration to his colleagues and students, opening new pathways of healing, personal, and organizational growth through inventive combinations of constellations and other wisdom traditions.”

What is Family or Systemic Constellations? SCW grew from family systems theory applied masterfully by Austrian Physician and Psychotherapist Alfred Adler, American Psychotherapist Virginia Satir, and others. German Theologian and Psychotherapist Bert Hellinger took the work to new levels. Representatives (of people, situations, emotions), often people but also objects, are selected by the client. No psychodrama, no acting, the client and facilitator choose movement or words from the representatives. You can learn more about Family and Systemic Constellations theory and applications at: www.SeattleConstellations.org/Constellations_Theory .

Remarkable knowledge about the person who is the focus of a session, that person’s relationships, even family history can arise in constellation work without any prior information. Mark demonstrates deep intuitive insight in his teaching and in his work with clients. A stunning example of this intuitive energy is a constellations session Mark held with a woman dealing with major life decisions. As Mark interviewed the woman prior to her constellation, he saw a man, dark skinned, wearing an animal skin loin cloth standing on a small mound of bare earth. The man held a spear and was rhythmically tapping the butt of it on top of the mound as if to draw attention to that place. Mark felt there was a buried secret the man was concerned about.

This figure appeared several times during the interview, so Mark asked his client if she knew the man. The woman was almost speechless, realizing she did know this man. He was her grandfather, a Maori chieftain whom she had never met, no longer living. Mark’s client revealed the family secret that even she had forgotten. Her mother had been raised without contact with her Maori father in a White family setting. She was not told about her true origins. A constellation was set up which included her grandfather and ancestors. Mark’s client heard this message and returned to New Zealand, finding members of her grandfather’s family still alive and learned about her Maori heritage. Mark began his study of Systemic Constellations in 2000 with Dietrich Weth of Germany, a world-renowned facilitator, and has taught and facilitated across the US and overseas since 2003. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Science, Systems Counseling.

Mark’s commitment to helping people heal the past and create vital futures led him to expand his practice and teaching to groups and organizations. One new program is the Systemic Constellation Facilitator Training program, a profound, experiential learning experience. This certification training is one year long and includes six four-day modules. Students will learn how to facilitate Family and Systemic Constellations with groups and individuals, families and organizations, receiving supervised practice in a supportive environment. The Facilitator training starts in Virginia Beach in April 2010.
