CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - (Business Wire) ThingMagic, Inc. (www.thingmagic.com), a leading developer of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, today announced M5e-Compact, Mercury5e and Mercury4 module Development Kits are available for purchase online at www.thingmagic.com/store. Each kit provides a complete RFID reader software and hardware solution for testing, prototyping and developing embedded, mobile, portable and handheld RFID applications. With RFID spreading far beyond traditional retail and supply chain applications, the Development Kits address the demand by end users and ThingMagic business partners for easy to use, low-cost development tools. In particular, the new M5e-Compact Development Kit is ideal for creating embedded RFID applications in a wide range of industries including healthcare, legal, transportation, logistics and manufacturing.

Working with customers and business partners, weve learned that many are eager to explore, research and develop embedded and mobile RFID solutions that require small form factors and low power requirements, said Yael Maguire, ThingMagic CTO and co-founder. The Development Kits include everything they need to experiment with, design and develop RFID applications that meet these needs.

As with the other Development Kits, the FCC-certified M5e-Compact Development Kit includes:

  • One M5-eCompact RFID reader module, installed in a DevKit chassis with standard connectors;
  • Compact 3dBI RFID antennas and appropriate cables;
  • Nine volt DC Power adaptor interfaces;
  • A CD with a developers guide, firmware and a demonstration software program;
  • Sample RFID tags; and
  • A Serial-to-PC interface cable.

The RFID market is expanding rapidly and ThingMagics embedded RFID reader modules are being used in a wide variety of industries and consumer and commercial applications, said Tom Grant, CEO of ThingMagic. Weve made it as easy as possible to purchase ThingMagic products at our new online store, which enables us to more efficiently serve the diverse market for embedded RFID applications.

The M5e-Compact and other Development Kit are available now at www.ThingMagic.com. Priced at $1,495, the M5e-Compact Development Kit is available for delivery in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Development Kit for other countries will be added throughout 2008.
