The Mosaic Company Releases Inaugural Sustainability Report

PLYMOUTH, Minn. Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) today announced it has completed a thorough, company-wide sustainability assessment and published an inaugural sustainability report summarizing key economic, social, agricultural, and environmental initiatives.

The report, available at www.mosaicco.com/sustainability/report, measures Mosaic's progress on sustainability performance indicators established by the independent Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). It also outlines Mosaic's sustainability goals for the years to come.

Among the report highlights, Mosaic has:

• Reduced by 23% the total direct energy consumption of its U.S. operations since 2005;
• Used hydroelectric sources for nearly 100% of its power in Brazil;
• Generated nearly 50% of the electrical load needed to run its Florida operations on its own -- enough energy savings to power 100,000 homes;
• Reclaimed 2,483 acres of land in fiscal 2009; and
• Recycled 95% of all water used in its Florida mining facilities.
