-- Secret Clinical Strength receives first Seal of Recognition -
PHILADELPHIA, March 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the International Hyperhidrosis Society (IHHS, online at http://www.sweathelp.org/) announced the implementation of its Seal of Recognition program for over-the-counter antiperspirant products. With so many products entering the market claiming to be "clinical strength" the IHHS created the program to research and investigate products and their claims, in order to help consumers make educated decisions. Secret(R) Clinical Strength was awarded the inaugural Seal of Recognition.
"We developed the Seal of Recognition program to encourage new science and technology applied to products benefiting the hyperhidrosis community and to help people who sweat excessively to make effective treatment choices," said Lisa Pieretti, Executive Director of the IHHS. "Through the board's investigation and review, Secret(R) Clinical Strength has proven to be a strong partner in the fight against excessive sweating and we are proud to give them the first award."
Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a chronic and debilitating condition estimated to affect millions of people. In fact, a recent Harris survey found that up to 13 percent of people said that they sweat too much or more than they would like. Excessive sweating can devastate a person's quality of life by negatively impacting relationships, career choices and mental well-being. Fortunately, symptoms are often treatable by products such as clinical strength antiperspirants or by visiting a qualified dermatologist.
"We are thrilled that Secret(R) Clinical Strength has been recognized by the International Hyperhidrosis Society as a safe and highly effective product for people who suffer from excessive sweating," said Mike Thomas (Research and Development Scientist, Procter and Gamble). "We hope that the Seal of Recognition program will bring awareness to this very debilitating condition and options to improve quality of life."
Each product that applies for an IHHS Seal of Recognition is reviewed by the IHHS Board of Physicians, a group of world-renowned hyperhidrosis experts. The Board reviews published literature, sweat reduction test results and FDA approval comments, while studying the science behind product claims, in an effort to determine whether the product meets or exceeds FDA and IHHS standards for its sweat-fighting abilities.
