WILLOW GROVE, Pa. - (Business Wire) With a commitment to superior customer service and a relationship-based business model, The E F Precision Group beat out nearly 100 companies to win the coveted 2010 Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Small Business Excellence Award in Manufacturing. The annual award, which is sponsored by the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC), was presented Nov. 5 at the Chamber of Commerce’s 27th annual Awards Ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency in Philadelphia. Excellence Award Winners are chosen by a panel of their peers based on their demonstrated commitment to the advancement of the business community. The E F Precision Group won Manufacturer of the Year category by excelling in the following areas: innovative manufacturing concepts, strength in the area of employee training, substantial growth and strong community involvement.
“This year’s Manufacturer of the Year award was the strongest on record,” says Mark Basla, vice president of marketing and business development for DVIRC. “Despite a weak economy and pressure on the manufacturing sector, we received more success stories from the region’s small-to-medium-sized manufacturers than at any time in the awards history.” Basla continued, “Amid this competitive field, The E F Precision Group emerged the winner by demonstrating that they took risks to capture market share and created innovation in their business that led to impressive growth. We couldn’t be more pleased to recognize their success.”
Over the course of the last three years The E F Precision Group achieved 57 percent growth from 2005 through 2008 while posting revenues of $18 million last year. The company expects to grow an additional 25 percent through 2010 by focusing on providing high-quality components, assemblies and designs to industry-leading companies including Moog, Cannondale, Johnson & Johnson and Synthes, USA. A few examples of the innovative projects led by the company include a handheld Peritoneal dialysis machine, slip-rings for fighter jets, an creative mail-sort system for the U.S. Postal Service, and a crank set for high-performance racing bicycles.
The E F Precision Group had long been known as a high quality machine shop. In 2005 under new leadership, the company invested in new equipment and technology to position itself as a one-stop solution for clients requiring full complement of machining, assembly and engineering services. The company built a 25,000-square-foot addition to their facility, acquired eight new CNC machines, and expanded the scope of services to focus on growth areas in defense, aerospace and medical products as well as pharmaceutical and OEM. The company also invested in new training that improved and expanded the capacity of its workforce. The E F Precision Group’s commitment to its workforce is evidence by a less than one percent turnover rate.
“We are honored to receive this award,” says Bud Tyler, vice president of new business development for The E F Precision Group who accepted the award at the ceremony. “It serves as important recognition of the hard work and superior craftsmanship delivered day in and day out by our 80 employees. Our motto of ‘Attitude is Everything’ is not just a slogan. We live it every day in dedication to our clients. From a component the size of a bread box, to an assembly the size of a entire room, our precision and attention to detail is what won us this award. We have a lot of smart people with technically diverse backgrounds that make a great team.”
The E F Precision expanded its commitment to the community increasing sponsorships and participation with charities including Junior Achievement, Montgomery County “Learners to Leaders,” The Hungry & Homeless Clinic and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation benefiting children of Special Operations personnel.
