Recognition follows number 11 ranking on Modern Healthcare's national Best Places to Work in Healthcare list DALLAS, Nov. 4

DALLAS, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake (THHMHS) is shaping up as one of the best places to work...period. It has just been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas 2010 by TEXAS MONTHLY, the Texas Association of Business, the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group. This award follows on the heels of THHMHS being ranked the 11th best place to work in healthcare nationally by Modern Healthcare magazine.

The Best Companies to Work for in Texas survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Texas, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Companies to Work for in Texas 2010 list is made up of 85 companies in various industries.

"We work hard to make this a great workplace for our employees," said Traci Bernard, president of THHMHS. "Receiving these two awards is a significant honor and validates what we are doing to create one of the best work environments around."

To be considered for participation, companies had to meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have at least 15 employees working in Texas;
  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
  • Be a publicly or privately held business;
  • Have a facility in the state of Texas; and
  • Must be in business a minimum of 1 year.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part evaluation process. The first part, worth 25% of the total score, consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second part, worth 75% of the evaluation, consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake will be recognized and honored at the Best Companies to Work for in Texas awards ceremony on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Texas Association of Business 2010 Annual Conference. The final rankings will be announced at the luncheon. More information on the program can be found at www.BestCompaniesTX.com.
