Technip (Paris:TEC) (ISIN:FR0000131708) has entered into a partnership with Areva to develop major mining projects. The objective is to double Areva's uranium production capacity in the next five years, starting with approximately 10 new mining operations, mostly in Africa.
To execute these projects, which represent a total investment of approximately three billion euros, Technip and SGN, Areva's engineering subsidiary specialized in the nuclear fuel cycle, have created a joint venture under the name TSU Project.
Technip brings its experience in the management of large-scale international projects. The Group benefits also from a recognized expertise in the metals and mining sector (nickel, uranium, bauxite, alumina…).
This joint venture will use the resources of Technip's operating center in Paris. In function of the various projects, other Group centers could be involved.
The signature of this long-term partnership agreement affirms Technip's ability to support major companies of the energy and raw material industries in their development.
