ATLANTA, GA -- 11/10/09 -- TeaFlection.com, a premium loose leaf tea retailer, recently held a Twitter tea tasting event. The event served to engage the tea connoisseur community with a live tasting of a variety of teas. In preparation for the event, TeaFlection identified some of the top tea enthusiasts online and invited them to participate, providing them with free tea samples and a structured tasting process.

By using Twitter, participants in TeaFlection's tasting were able to take part in the event without leaving the comfort of their home. Using a hash tag, Twitter's method of conversation tracking, Twitter users were able to keep track of the conversations around each new tea by searching for other messages tagged '#teatasting'. This simple method of shared messages joined people from across the nation as they sipped on the same hot teas and expressed their opinions about them.

"We were very pleased with the way the event turned out," said Heather Johnston, Social Media Specialist at TeaFlection. "We got real and authentic reviews, which were mostly positive, and the feedback from the tea connoisseurs was invaluable."

TeaFlection worked with NeboWeb, an award-winning interactive marketing agency, to create the strategy behind the tasting event. "The great thing about Twitter is that it allows you to communicate in real time," said Adam Harrell, president of NeboWeb. "An online tea tasting that lets connoisseurs share their notes, regardless of their geographic location, is just another example of an offline activity that works really well online."
