ANNAPOLIS, MD -- 02/29/08 --
TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS)
(NASDAQ: TSYS), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless
communications, today announced the expansion of its management team with
the appointments of three experienced leaders to drive sales, marketing and
government affairs initiatives and programs. TCS appointed Sam Collura to
Vice President of Sales to lead North America sales for wireless and public
safety products, Kim Robert Scovill to Senior Director to lead the
company's government affairs efforts, and Meredith Allen to Senior Director
of Corporate Communications.
Sam Collura brings more than 30 years of executive and senior management
experience in technology market development, sales, channels, operations,
and profit and loss management to TCS. Prior to joining TCS, Collura was
Vice President, New Business Sales at Agentis Software where he was
responsible for the company's expansion of new business revenues and global
partnerships. Before Agentis Software, Collura served as Executive Vice
President and Chief Operating Officer at Cypress Communications, a leading
provider of VoIP hosted communication services; and Executive Vice
President for the Voice Division of Convergent Communication Services.
Kim Robert Scovill has over 30 years of experience providing organizations
with legal, regulatory affairs and general counsel support. Prior to
joining TCS, Scovill served as Vice President at ProCom Services where he
was responsible for the development, delivery, installation, and service
for state-of-the-art video, data, and telephony services under contract to
major broadband network suppliers. Before ProCom Services, Scovill was a
Senior Director at Comcast. In this role, he provided essential
contributions to the development and launch of the most successful product
in the company's history - VoIP / cable telephony. He also supported
strategic regulatory relations across all product lines.
Meredith Allen brings two decades of marketing communications experience to
TCS. In this role Allen is responsible for marketing and communications
activities globally. Prior to joining TCS, Allen founded Calera Marketing
Associates, a marketing communications consultancy that provided clients
with innovative expansion strategies, brand building, and high-impact
communications programs. Before founding her own firm, Allen was Director
of Corporate Communications for Renaissance Worldwide (acquired by Aquent)
where she was responsible for internal and external communications. In
this management role, she played an integral part in helping the company
grow from a $60 million
privately-held firm into an $800 million, publicly-traded international
leader.
"Following another successful year for the company, these appointments
underscore our commitment to attracting the best and the brightest in the
industry," said Timothy Lorello, Chief Marketing Officer of TCS. "These
additions help round out what is already an exceptional management team to
capture emerging VoIP and cable telephony opportunities, to fortify our
regulatory initiatives, and better communicate our market position. Sam,
Kim and Meredith bring a complementary mix of sales, marketing and
legislative expertise that will enable us to execute on our aggressive
company initiatives, and more importantly, further meet the needs of our
carrier, cable and government customers."
