BRADENTON, Fla. - (Business Wire) Home builder Taylor Morrison has taken its more than 100 years of homebuilding experience into the future with the unveiling of its new consumer-based Web site.
Using the latest programming applications available, as well as Google mapping technology, the Web site puts control of the shopping experience in the hands of the customer, said Taylor Morrison President and Chief Executive Officer Sheryl Palmer.
“We’re a national home builder, but we’ve always been attuned to our local markets and product offerings,” Palmer said. “Our new site allows home buyers to see the whole picture before drilling down to the exact community or home that fits their needs. It makes shopping for that new home a personal experience.”
Taylor Morrison’s new Web site spent months in the design and testing stages in order to ensure that everything met the exacting standards of the company’s online mission.
“With more than 85 percent of consumers turning to the Web to begin their new home search, having a solid online marketing strategy has become critical,” said Jack Abbott, CEO of Interactivate, the site’s designer. “Our task was to create a cohesive brand identity system for Taylor Morrison, communicating the brand attributes visually and verbally while attracting and retaining qualified prospects.”
The site’s clean look and ease of use for home buyers belies the advanced programming and development applications running beneath the surface, adding to the online experience.
Leading that experience are the company’s community maps, which utilize the latest programming scripts to streamline the site’s responsiveness and interactivity. Each market’s home collections are neatly and conveniently displayed in a user-controllable map that zooms in on the home buyer’s choice of community without the time-consuming need to reload the entire page.
To accomplish these tasks, Taylor Morrison’s Web site developers utilized Google Maps based community locators, Adobe Flash floor plan viewers and AJAX-based scripting technologies that increase the functionality of the site.
“Our effort was aimed at providing Taylor Morrison customers with uniform and consistent tools to quickly locate those communities that interested them the most,” said Chad Everding of Digiscribe, the site’s engineers.
The new Web site is just the latest example of Taylor Morrison’s cutting-edge application of emerging technologies. The company embraced online video services early on, posting video walkthroughs of its model homes on services such as YouTube, Google Video and Yahoo! Video. Taylor Morrison also developed a consumer-based podcast series called “Homefront” to address the needs of home buyers.
In June, the company will participate in the unveiling of the Disneyland Resort Innoventions Dream Home, a 21st century interactive home featuring innovative technology from Microsoft, HP and Life|ware and based at the California resort.
More changes are in store for the new Web site as well. The unveiling of the site is only the first step in the move toward online interactivity between the customer and Taylor Morrison. More improvements are slated for later this year, including dynamic home brochures, a Realtor portal, live chat and the ability to download information from the Web site to a mobile phone, allowing customers to take taylormorrison.com with them on their search for a new home.
“Customers want results, and they want them on their own terms,” Palmer said. “Our new site allows them to take control of the data we provide and find the home that they truly want.”
