PRESCOTT, AZ -- 11/04/09 -- Construction has begun on a five-acre effluent lake at Talking Rock, a luxury golf and custom home community just north of Prescott, Arizona. The lake will serve as the storage site for water reclaimed from users living in Inscription Canyon, The Preserve, Whispering Canyon and Talking Rock.

A half-million dollar investment in the Prescott community, the lake is part of Talking Rock's water service agreement with the ICR Water Users Association and will fulfill its long-term wastewater management requirements. Effluent water should eventually provide 100 percent of the Talking Rock Golf Course's irrigation needs. Construction began mid-September and completion is slated for December 15, 2009, barring delays caused by severe weather.

"The effluent lake benefits all parties involved," says Hugh Pryor, president of ICR Water Users Association. "For the water company, the Talking Rock Golf Course and the community's residents this is a win-win solution."

Other construction at Talking Rock includes improvements to the Prescott golf course driving range. Dirt recovered from effluent lake construction is being used to reshape the practice facility target area. Originally designed as a two-tee range, the facility is being updated to a single tee design creating more definition and enhancing view lines for all targets. Once complete, the reshaping will create more of a "fairway" look. Also, in an effort to conserve water, irrigated turf once used to frame the driving range floor will be replaced by native grasses.
