This is the fourth time TAITRA holds the Asian MICE Forum on behalf of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA, ROC. Based on previous efforts and reputation, the forum has been affirmed as one of the major events for MICE professionals from home and abroad to get together and meet with global MICE leaders. Moreover, the forum serves as an ideal opportunity for the attendees to catch the industry trend and exchange information on potential businesses. In particular, AMF 2009 brings together top managers of all four major international MICE organizations, which further highlights the importance and significance of this forum.
Significance of the Speakers Is Highly Valued
The AMF 2009 will delve into the current status of the MICE industry with the focus on the MICE industry in the global economic crisis. To explore the topic in depth, this year TAITRA expanded the target region for speakers and panelists from Southeast Asia to international MICE organizations, Northeast Asian countries and China. In addition, a panel discussion is set after each keynote speech to investigate on the topic further. Heavyweights of the international MICE community, President of SITE Ms. Brenda Anderson, President of IAEE Mr. Steven Hacker, Vice President of ICCA Mr. Anthony Wong, UFI’s Asia/Pacific Regional Manager and Managing Director designate Mr. Paul Woodward, President & CEO of KINTEX Korea Mr. Joon-Woo Han, and Mr. Peter Jang, Executive Vice President for Convention and Exhibition of Songdo Convensia in Korea, as well as MICE leaders from Japan, Thailand, Germany and Taiwan are all invited to make keynote speeches and join the panel discussions. The atmosphere across the strait has been toward peaceful development and further trade cooperation. To meet the trend TAITRA will again hold the session “Cross Strait Exhibition/Venue Cooperation & Development” at the forum. The number of delegates from China broke the record to total 160. In particular, Mr. Jason T. Li, President of the profound direct sale enterprise Pro-Health in China, is also joining the panel. This is a great opportunity for experts in the incentive travel business from both sides of the Strait to exchange their viewpoints and experiences. No wonder that the Taipei City Government has actively sponsored the MRT one-day pass for all guests attending the Forum, encouraging them to take the opportunity and experience the beauty of the metropolitan city of Taiwan.
The First EXPO Taiwan on at the Same Time to Create More Business Opportunities
This year to further expand the economic benefits of the Asian MICE Forum and to create more business opportunities for the industry, the first Taiwan Exhibition and Convention Industry Show (EXCO Taiwan) will join the forum at TWTC Exhibition Hall 1 at the same time. EXCO Taiwan, organized by TAITRA as well, is the first service-industry-oriented trade show ever in Taiwan and will cover conferences, exhibitions, marketing activity, and incentive travel. Over 140 MICE companies are participating in the show to occupy 250 booths, and among them are overseas companies from Germany, Sweden, Hong Kong, China and Japan. It’s obvious that the first EXCO Taiwan has attracted international attention and is viewed as one of the indicating exhibitions for the Asian MICE industry.
In the era of the service industries, coupled with the active promotion from the Government, the forum is expected to attract 3,300 attendees from private sectors, MICE associations, non-governmental organizations, government agencies at all levels and schools. The joint event of forum and exhibition together will serve as an even wider platform at the global level for MICE businesses, and is expected to set off a boom for the industry!
