MILWAUKEE - (Business Wire) SymSoft Corporation, a provider of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) solutions for SAP® environments, today announced it has included several enhancements in the latest release of ControlPanelGRC, the company’s second-generation suite of modular, integrated GRC applications that address the major areas of compliance. The enhancements were all created to simplify use and save time for both users and administrators. Key among the additions is that ControlPanelGRC is now Web-enabled, allowing users to access the full functionality of the solution from a PC, laptop or mobile device, anywhere they can get an Internet connection. As a result, they can perform certain actions, such as submit approvals, run queries, enter data or execute other GRC-related operations after hours or anytime they are in a remote location.
“Many of our enterprise customers rely on mobile devices to stay in touch,” said Scott Goolik, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at SymSoft. “Many also have key personnel working in remote offices, either temporarily or permanently, or are constantly on-the-go in airports and elsewhere. By Web-enabling ControlPanelGRC, we are able to help them take advantage of its powerful GRC tools without having to go to extraordinary lengths.”
Improvements have also been made through the addition of Password Manager, a self-service password synchronization tool that is part of User and Role Manager. Password Manager allows users to go to a Web page to request that their passwords be reset rather than having to contact a security manager or the help desk. Goolik said the procedure is similar to that used by consumer applications such as retail sites. Password Manager is being included as part of ControlPanelGRC’s user toolset.
SymSoft also has added a more robust self-service application that allows users to go to a Web page to submit a security request (such as gaining access to the SAP landscape) or check the status of a previously submitted security request. These actions can occur even if the person placing the request isn’t currently an SAP user and/or doesn’t have the ability to articulate the request in technical terms. The self-service application eliminates the need for users to contact the help desk to create the request for them, removing some of the delays and frustrations users often face. Once a request has been sent, users are notified of the status throughout the process.
A further enhancement comes in the form of Logon LaunchPad, a utility that allows an SAP administrator to sign on to one target system, such as production or development, and then move to others without having to sign on individually to them. Under standard SAP procedures, administrators would have to sign in to each target system individually. Logon LaunchPad makes it easier to move about the full SAP landscape without interrupting workflow.
ControlPanelGRC integrates SymSoft’s market-proven security and transport tools into a single, elegant compliance solution. The product’s seven modules go beyond Segregation of Duties (SOD) dictated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) to complement and extend any pre-installed GRC solution.
“Governance, risk and compliance are important to all quality organizations whether they are required by the law or not,” Goolik said. “These new enhancements simplify key functions within ControlPanelGRC and even in SAP itself, so users and administrators can achieve compliance more efficiently.”
