Two prominent open source
leaders, SpringSource and Pentaho, today unveiled a strategic technology
partnership to meet widespread demand for a new generation of business
intelligence (BI) and reporting capabilities built upon Spring, the de
facto standard in enterprise Java.
Specifically, the companies are enhancing the integration of Pentaho's
embeddable reporting and business intelligence capabilities with the
SpringSource Application Platform, a collection of products designed to
provide the optimal environment to build, run and manage enterprise Java
applications that utilize Spring-based technologies. The SpringSource
Application Platform includes SpringSource
Enterprise that delivers the software, services, and technical support
necessary to ensure that organizations develop and run Spring-powered

According to Gartner, adoption of open-source BI being used as an
