CORTE MADERA, Calif. - (Business Wire) SL Corporation®, a leading provider of real-time monitoring, analytics, and visualization software, today announced the availability of Enterprise RTView for Oracle Coherence, version 4.9. This latest release of the platform adds numerous pre-built displays that provide detailed comparative statistics across all grid nodes, or across all caches in the grid, and includes preconfigured alerts for early warning of the most common problematic conditions. These features dramatically bolster visibility for those responsible for grid operations and capacity planning, and offer further benefits during data grid development and regression testing.

Data grids are intrinsically complicated to manage, commented Rodney Morrison, SLs Vice President of Products. Without visibility into grid status and effectiveness, they can be very difficult to debug, optimize or scale properly. RTViews advanced analysis and alert features are invaluable to anyone running an Oracle Coherence grid.

Advanced Analysis Features

  • Cache Activity and Capacity Across the Grid Cache Activity trend graphs for the ten largest or most active caches may be seen in one view for better analysis of the entire grid. Cache Capacity trend graphs allow the user to choose trends for several different statistics and activity metrics.
  • Node Status Overview This display offers a graphical view of the status of all nodes in the grid, just storage nodes, or just processing nodes. This allows a user to see the health of the entire grid in one view, and to view hotspots or link problems to specific grid members or member types.
  • Trend Graphs for Node Memory and Communication Failures These displays trend the historical use of memory or communication failures by each node in the grid, or the top ten nodes in terms of memory usage or communication failures. This view can help analyze trends in peak memory usage or link network problems to specific time periods or specific nodes.

Automatic Error Detection With Configurable Alerts

Enterprise RTView for Oracle Coherence now provides important, predefined alert conditions for the most common problems encountered in Coherence configurations. These alerts allow early warning indicators and critical alarms for conditions such as bad communication, or a cluster that needs attention because the cache is full or free memory is too low.

While these advanced analysis and alert features have obvious benefits for those responsible for grid operations and capacity planning, they are also quite useful during data grid development and regression testing. For example, a developer may determine there is a problem with a cache implementation by receiving an automated alert. He or she can then drilldown on the alert to determine what type it is, and go to the analysis displays to determine the cause. The suspected cause can then be placed in the alert comments and used as reference for future regression testing.
