STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Sisvel today announced that it will hold a two-day meeting of LTE (Long Term Evolution) / SAE (System Architecture Evolution) essential patent owners beginning on February 2, 2010, to discuss the formation of an LTE/SAE patent pool. Participants will include global technology leaders in the telecommunications industry and major international LTE/SAE stakeholders, and the meeting remains open to additional parties that hold an LTE essential patent or patent application as determined by an independent patent evaluator. All parties interested in participating in the formation of an LTE/SAE patent pool are invited to contact Sisvel as soon as possible to arrange an evaluation of essentiality in advance of the February meeting. To ensure completion of the evaluation in time to join the February meeting, patent owners should submit a patent no later than December 15, 2009.
Sisvel has expanded the scope of its LTE/SAE call for patents beyond the initial list of Radio Access Specifications covered by the 36 series to include those specifications related to EPS (Evolved Packet System) which were developed in parallel with the radio access technology, as well as those specifications of release 8 needed to complete an LTE/SAE system. The February 2010 pool facilitation meeting follows Sisvel's explorative work with the telecommunications industry.
