SANTA CLARA, Calif. - (Business Wire) Silego Technology, Inc. an industry leader in timing generators recently broadened its product offering to include a complete line of low power, low jitter EMI (Electro-magnetic Interference) reduction spread spectrum clock generators (SSCG). Today Silego launched a new type of SSCG featuring FrequencyAwareTM.

SSCGs are devices that reduce EMI radiation by spreading clock energy by a fixed amount. The benefits of SSCGs are the elimination of the need for expensive shielding, lower BOM costs, and reduced time to market. SSCGs are used in high-speed communication routers, switches, and base stations, and in consumer applications such as HDTVs, set-top boxes, and printers, and in computing applications such as servers, and PCs.

Introducing the SLG4421

The SLG4421 is a 1x multiplier SSCG featuring the industrys widest frequency range of 24 MHz to 200 MHz, lowest current consumption and FrequencyAwareTM capability. FrequencyAwareTM is a proprietary technology pioneered by Silego that automatically determines the input frequency thus eliminating the need for input frequency selection pins commonly found on EMI reduction clock generators. The benefits of eliminating the frequency input selection pins are reduced pin count and reduced time to market since there is one less parameter to validate and document.

The SLG4421 represents a significant advancement in SSCGs. There are no other products that offer automatic input frequency detection while providing a wide input frequency range, says Herbe Chun, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Silego Technology.

Challenges

There were two challenges in developing the SLG4421. The first challenge was to design circuitry that determines the input frequency, and the second challenge was to design an EMI clock with very wide input range. The SLG4421 met both these challenges making it a unique SSCG.

Price

The SLG4421 is available in 8-pin SOIC priced at $0.38, and in 8-pin TSSOP priced at $0.39 each in 100,000 quantities.

Samples and Availability

General sampling of all EMI reduction clock generators including the SLG4421 and the SLG4311, SLG4312, SLG4314, and SLG4318 which are 1x, 2x, and 4x, and 1x multiplier SSCGs with reference output respectively, are ready for shipment.
