AVENTURA, FL -- 07/01/08 --
Identity thieves may be left out in the cold,
now that Shop Shield® has launched its beta test. Shop Shield is a new
and better way to protect personal identity information on the web, and its
many uses promise to excite the imaginations of both the public and
journalists who try it out.
It works by replacing sensitive personal information with anonymous,
untraceable data each time consumers make a purchase online or register at
a web site, making the information useless to anyone who gains unauthorized
access to it.
"For each online transaction Shop Shield creates substitute billing
information," said President Steve Bachenheimer, "as well as a unique login
identity complete with a temporary email address that can be deactivated at
any time."
According to Bachenheimer, personal information can't be stolen because it
is never revealed in the first place. The real information never leaves the
Shop Shield databases.
Shop Shield utilizes proprietary security technology -- and through its
participation in the industry-leading Trustwave Trusted Commerce(SM)
program, has qualified for an EV SSL certificate. This protocol validates
the company's identity to consumers who visit its web site, with visible
security indicators that shade IE7 and Firefox browser address bars green.
Credit card fraud and identity theft has increasingly become a runaway
problem, with millions of cases being reported annually. Shop Shield's
revolutionary technology guarantees protection against both when shopping
online, as well as other threats such as email scams, phishing, spoofing,
spam and more.
Shop Shield has already passed a rigorous security evaluation and is ready
for public use. The Shop Shield beta test is intended to evaluate
user-friendliness and to identify any remaining bugs.
The beta test is open to the public, and will run a few more months.
Participants and industry insiders are encouraged to participate, and can
register at www.ShopShield.net. Identity thieves need not apply as all
applicants are required to pass an identity check.
