CAMBRIDGE, MA -- 11/09/09 -- S+H Construction, Inc., of Cambridge, Massachusetts, one of the greater Boston area's premier residential renovation and custom home building companies, is pleased to announce they are the recipient of four (4) industry awards for 2009: three (3) Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards -- Eastern Massachusetts region -- presented by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and a Silver PRISM Award given by the Builder's Association of Greater Boston.

The CotY competition is renowned throughout the remodeling industry recognizing exceptional achievement in remodeling and construction. The awards presentation -- hosted by former New England Patriot Andre Tippett -- was held November 4th at the Westin in Waltham, MA.

S+H Construction won the following CotY awards:

-- Gold in the "Residential Exterior" category
This older Victorian home in Brookline, MA suffered through too many
disjointed renovations. S+H created a stunning new front entry
with a native fieldstone foundation to naturally draw guests to
   the front door.

-- Silver in the "Residential Specialty - Exterior" category
The exterior of this Weston, MA home contains a sophisticated series
of terraces carved from originally rocky terrain, transforming it
into a unique outdoor kitchen, fire pit and water feature that flows
   from the deck above it.

-- Silver in the "Residential Historical Renovation" category
S+H restored a neglected period home in Cambridge, MA, with framed
entranceways, rich paint colors and replicating authentic design
   elements.

The PRISM Awards pays tribute to housing industry professionals for excellence in new construction, remodeling, design, sales and marketing and a myriad of other categories directly related to the building and construction industry. The celebration was held October 14th where S+H received the Silver award in the category of "Residential Renovation over $750,000" for their work on a 19th century home in Cambridge. S+H recaptured the historic period of every room in this exquisite home, yet managed to also include modern amenities such as energy efficient radiant heat beneath herringbone wood floors, a custom wine cellar and fitness room. The project also features a stunning walnut paneled office as well as a living space in the lower level which required excavating the basement to create a marble-floored recreation room with nine foot ceilings. S+H's site work division also designed and constructed the landscaping for this award-winning property.

"We are honored to be recognized by the Remodeler's Industry and Builder's Association for our projects," notes Doug Hanna, S+H Construction co-president. "Our craftsmen and sitework team did an outstanding job on every facet of these projects. It is great to share these awards with our hardworking team."

S+H Construction -- a multi-award winning firm recognized as the "Best of Boston" in 2007, and "Best of Boston HOME" in 2008 -- specializes in residential and historic renovations, custom home building, renewable energy, landscaping and site work. Their work is consistently seen in both regional and national home and design publications including Design New England; Boston Magazine; Boston HOME; New England Home; TRENDS; Fine Home Building; Old House Journal and The Boston Globe, among others. Most recently S+H was featured on the WBZ-TV program "What's In Store," which profiles businesses in the greater Boston area.
