RENO, Nev. - (Business Wire) Server Technology, the industry leader for Power Distribution Unit and Management Solutions, announces the availability of the Smart Power Monitor product line. These new products add input current load and power monitoring to any existing server cabinet via an integral web-based interface or through a serial connection. Data center server racks currently using non-intelligent Cabinet Power Distribution Units (PDUs) can now be retrofitted with a Smart PDU, providing a web GUI and giving the user network access to view power, temperature and humidity levels, and receive SNMP-based alarms or email alerts when conditions exceed defined thresholds. The Smart Power Monitors have dual power inputs for redundancy and dual outputs to support two PDUs in-feds so only one Smart Power Monitor is needed per cabinet. Upgrading a server rack with a Smart Power Monitor will allow the user to determine if there is enough available power to add additional devices to the cabinet without overloading a circuit and bringing down an in-feed. Knowing the power draw (in Amps), using True RMS current monitoring for greater accuracy, will also ensure each PDU is properly loaded for redundancy in the event that one of the two input feeds is lost.

The Smart Power Monitors are available in a variety of configurations. Rated input voltages and amperage options include: single phase 208V/30A, single phase 230V/32A, 3-phase Delta 208V/20A, 3-phase Delta 208V/30A, 3-phase Wye 208V/20A, 3-phase Wye 208V/30A, 3-phase Wye 400V/16A, and 3-phase Wye 400V/32A. The horizontal enclosure is 1U for all configurations, and typically mounts on the back or bottom of a 19- or 23-inch rack. All models are also compliant to UL 60950-1 for branch circuit protection. Along with an existing server cabinet, a common application for a Smart Power Monitor is for large storage solutions like NASs and SANs when you are not sure what the actual power draw is for these systems. The Smart Power Monitors work with all Server Technology basic and metered PDUs, but will also work with all other brands as well.

The Smart product line allows for network monitoring of the CDU using either the serial interface, internal web interface or the Sentry Power Manager (SPM) Software System. Each Smart CDU that Server Technology produces, including the Smart Power Monitors, supports two external 10-foot probes used to monitor both temperature and humidity, allowing the user to receive SNMP or email-based alerts when power or environmental conditions are exceeded.
