Expands SenGenuity's Reach into New Markets with Real-time In-process Viscosity Sensing Needs MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 12
MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- SenGenuity, the Sensors division of Vectron International, today announced its ViSmart high shear extended range sensor, the first solid-state sensor available for viscosity measurements in thick and viscous fluids. The sensor complements SenGenuity's line of high shear viscosity sensor products, which are equipped with a smart sensor interface and available for integration into a large variety of embedded applications, including host control platforms. This expansion of the ViSmart viscosity sensor family extends SenGenuity's robust, reliable and cost-effective viscosity measurement solutions to a greater variety of markets, including coatings and oil condition monitoring of fixed assets. SenGenuity will be showcasing its entire ViSmart viscosity sensor family in Hall B5, Booth 237 at electronica 2008, from November 11 to 14.
SenGenuity's ViSmart high shear extended range sensor can measure the viscosity of fluids from 1,000 to 10,000 AV (acoustic viscosity) units, as compared to the previous product limit of a maximum 500 AV. Applications of the new high shear extended range sensor include oil condition monitoring of fixed assets with heavy viscous oils and process control for applications such as ceramic slurry, adhesives, resins, specialty coatings, pharmaceutical coatings, ink and paints.
"There was a clear demand from our customers for a viscosity sensing solution that would be effective in measuring higher fluid viscosity than what traditional viscometers are capable of measuring. Our new ViSmart high shear extended range sensor directly addresses that requirement," said Kerem Durdag, director of sales and marketing, SenGenuity.
SenGenuity's ViSmart viscosity sensor is designed to provide instantaneous sample and/or continuous, real-time, in-process viscosity measurements for applications that require high resolution and accuracy in embedded, in-line environments. The ViSmart viscosity sensor uses robust and reliable semiconductor technology, has no moving parts, and is sealed for complete immersion. It is unaffected by vibration or flow conditions, does not need field calibration and is packaged to be highly portable. The ViSmart sensor measures a wide range of viscosity of fluid and is rated for operation in temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius. The sensor package allows for quick installation, and the sensor is available with custom options and configurations for specific industry applications and process requirements.
The ViSmart model series can be connected to any computer or control platform via the standard protocols, SenGenuity's new FluidTrackr(TM) handheld datalogger and the VisConnect(TM) 4-20 mA transmitter to provide a continuous audit trail for process monitoring to control operating costs and maintain quality standards. Additionally, customers can leverage SenGenuity's starter kit bench-top viscometer data station to acquire multiple channels of continuous viscosity and temperature data.
