PARSIPPANY, N.J., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. received a Special Recognition Award at the recent meeting of the American Society of Industrial Security held in Anaheim, CA for its instrumental role in promotion and advancement of the Society's certification programs. Accepting the award for Securitas USA was Rocco DeFelice, CPP, Executive Vice President, who commented, "Securitas USA, as an industry leader, recognizes the need and the importance of certification for our employees at all levels of the organization. We are proud that the efforts of our employees contributed significantly to this recognition."
ASIS President, Michael Cummings, CPP, presented the Presidential Award of Merit to past president, Don W. Walker, CPP, chairman of Securitas USA in recognition of his valuable contributions on various ethics panels, development of standards & guidelines, co-chairing the CSO Roundtable, chairing various committees and providing ongoing support through congressional testimony related to public policy issues facing the security profession. Don added, "Participation in a professional society, developing standards, providing certifications and adhering to a code of ethical conduct are primary characteristics of all professions. In addition, two regional Professional Certification Board (PCB) Awards were given to Lee Cloney, CPP and Victor Mason, CPP, in recognition of their support for certification in their regions. Lee Cloney, regional director of training & development for Securitas USA's Rocky Mountain region, said "The industry benchmark for excellence in security management is the ASIS certification program, which I use also as source material for some of my management training programs". Vic Mason, CPP, director of operations planning & consulting services, in the New England region, added "I find it gratifying that my students who have successfully passed the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) exam, have joined the ranks of those who have earned our industry's most coveted professional certification."
