WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 DC-US-Palestine-forum
WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will deliver remarks at the Palestinian Business and Investment Forum, an event co-hosted by the US-Palestinian Partnership, the US Chamber of Commerce, and the Palestinian Private Sector Coordinating Council that will highlight unique investment opportunities in the Palestinian economy.
The Palestinian government's commitment to creating an environment that fosters private sector-led growth, a top securities exchange, an entrepreneurial business community, and a thriving American Chamber of Commerce make it a region with tremendous investment potential. Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, who will also deliver an address at the Forum, emphasized this potential during the May Palestine Investment Conference (PIC) in Bethlehem which convened more than 1500 investors to discuss leading Palestinian ventures. The Palestinian Business and Investment Forum builds on the success of the PIC and will explore specific investment opportunities in the information and communication technology, agribusiness, pharmaceutical industries, and the financial sector.
Secretary Rice announced the creation of the US-Palestinian Partnership in December 2007, which is co-chaired by Walter Isaacson, CEO of the Aspen Institute. This public-private initiative was designed to help improve the situation on the ground by creating economic and educational opportunities for the Palestinian people. In addition to its work to support Prime Minister Fayyad's effort to attract international investment, the Partnership is developing quick-impact projects to promote job creation in the West Bank and expanding youth development and resource centers designed to prepare youth for full and productive participation in the Palestinian society and economy.
The Forum will be held on October 14, 2008 at the US Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Washington, DC.
