BELLEVUE, Wash. - (Business Wire) As part of its partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, City University of Seattle announced today that starting Cornerback Kelly Jennings has been named as its higher education spokesperson. Jennings recently made his first appearance on behalf of the university at South Seattle Community College
’s College Night, signing autographs and taking pictures. A true advocate of education, Jennings will be working closely with CityU of Seattle as it begins the 2008 Seahawks Undergrad Scholarship application process. The 2008 Seahawks Undergrad Scholarship will be awarded to an individual who exemplifies a strong need for career advancement and desire to improve their life and community.
Drafted by the Seahawks with the 31st selection in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft, Jennings holds two degrees in Finance and Business Management from the University of Miami. “I am honored that CityU has asked me to speak on behalf of the importance of higher education,” comments Seattle Seahawks cornerback, Kelly Jennings. “Education has always been a priority for me, and I truly value the significance of it. The 2008 Seahawks Undergrad Scholarship is just another example of how the university and the Seahawks both have a strong commitment to helping others advance their career goals.”
Scholarship applicants must have completed one year of college coursework (45 quarter credits) or equivalent military experience, or credits from the America Council of Education (ACE) or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) to apply. The recipient of the 2008 Seahawks Undergrad Scholarship will receive tuition and books for an award of up to $15,000 to be used at any of the City University of Seattle sites in the United States or online. Scholarship application forms will be available at any of the City University of Seattle info sessions held from May 20, 2008-November 21, 20080.
