Plan Includes Medical and Prescription Drug Coverage with No Monthly Premium PHOENIX, Oct. 1
PHOENIX, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Senior Care Action Network (SCAN), a
not-for-profit health plan serving seniors and others with Medicare, announced
today that its new Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan for
Maricopa County for 2009 will include comprehensive medical coverage with no
monthly plan premiums and no deductibles.

For members of SCAN's MAPD in Maricopa County, primary care physician
office visit co-payments are just $10. There is no co-payment for annual
routine physical exams or preventive screenings. In addition, SCAN offers a
generous prescription drug benefit (Medicare Part D), including a low $5
co-payment for a 31-day supply of preferred generic drugs as well as unlimited
coverage for generic drugs.
Members of SCAN's MAPD plan will receive all of the basic benefits
traditionally covered under Medicare including doctor visits, hospital care,
emergency/urgent care, skilled nursing facility care and more. In addition,
members will receive routine eye and hearing exams; in-home recovery benefits,
including home-delivered meals and personal care services; SCAN On-Call(TM), a
24-hour nurse advice line; and access to emergency care worldwide.
Partnering with SCAN in servicing its Medicare Advantage members will be
Banner Physician Hospital Organization and Arizona State Physician
Association. Members will have more than 1,000 primary care physicians and
2,000 specialists from which to choose. Participating hospitals include
Banner, IASIS, and John C. Lincoln.
The Medicare Advantage Plan is the third product offered by SCAN in
Arizona. The company also offers a Medicare Special Needs Plan for Medicare
beneficiaries enrolled in the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS). Another
product, SCAN Long Term Care, offers services to nearly 2,000 beneficiaries
who are enrolled in the ALTCS program in Maricopa County.
