Ms. Williams, a lawyer with Savvis since 2006, is a leader in the local legal community and contributes extensive time to the community through a number of charitable efforts. Williams is the current President of the Mound City Bar Association (MCBA) and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President of the National Bar Association. She sits on the boards of the Mound City Bar Foundation, the National Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Kids in the Middle, Inc., and the Farragut Elementary School Alumni Association and represents Savvis as a member of the steering committee for the Regional Business Council's Young Professionals Network.
"I love St. Louis and I strongly believe in the importance of giving back to the community that has given me so much. I'm honored to accept this award and hope that it might inspire others to give their time and energies as there are many, many deserving causes in St. Louis that need assistance," said Williams.
Some of Williams' contributions to the community include working with the law students at local law schools and granting scholarships as a Director with the Mound City Bar Foundation. Through the MCBA, Williams also spearheads various community service efforts and other community-facing events. This year, Williams developed a program where the MCBA will adopt a local church, local school, local non-profit agency and a village in Ghana, Africa to offer support and guidance to throughout the year. Additionally, Williams is especially proud that MCBA is participating in "Operation Shoebox" which sends monthly care packages to our troops deployed outside of the USA.
In addition to Ronda's efforts as President of MCBA, she devotes a great amount of time personally to charitable efforts in the St. Louis area. She is a member of the Project Angel Tree Committee which provides support to children during the holidays whose parent(s) are in prison. She also volunteers and renders support to the St. Louis Aids Foundation, the American Heart Association, Read Across America and the Red Cross.
"Ronda's leadership and outstanding contributions to the St. Louis community set an example for all of us to strive towards," said Gene DeFelice, Savvis Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. "She is not only a valued asset to the Savvis team but to the St. Louis community at large, and I am proud to know her."
The 2009 Spirit of Justice Award ceremony was held Friday, October 30 during the St. Louis Bar Foundation's Second Golden Gala at the Chase Park Plaza. The event honored eight other St. Louisans.
