BELLEVUE, WA -- 09/03/08 --
SecondSpace, Inc., the leading global online
marketplace for second homes and recreational retreats, today announced
that its board of directors has appointed Satbir Khanuja as the company's
president and chief executive officer (CEO). Khanuja has also been elected
to the company's board of directors. He previously served as SecondSpace's
senior vice president of marketing and business development, responsible
for the company's partnership, traffic-building and revenue-generating
initiatives. Khanuja succeeds Anil H.P. Pereira, founder and former CEO of
SecondSpace, who will continue to serve the company as a strategic advisor
as he relocates to Silicon Valley to engage in new technology endeavors.
"Since we began incubating this venture three years ago, SecondSpace has
been a labor of love for me so I am thrilled with Satbir's natural and
seamless transition to the CEO role," said Anil Pereira, founder of
SecondSpace. "He is a highly talented operational leader who has earned
the admiration and respect of colleagues, customers and business partners.
I am confident that under his leadership the company will continue its pace
of rapid growth as the online leader in the global second home market and I
look forward to working with him for many more years to come."
Satbir Khanuja joined SecondSpace in the fall of 2006 and was responsible
for sales, marketing, business development and affiliate marketing. He has
spearheaded key initiatives to build the company's flagship ResortScape.com
and LandWatch.com Web sites into the #1 sites in their category, creating a
global distribution platform for developers and real estate professionals.
Prior to joining the company, he spent seven years at Amazon.com as a
member of the executive team and was head of Amazon.com's Worldwide Traffic
organization, responsible for driving billions of dollars in sales through
free and paid traffic to all Amazon.com Web sites worldwide. Previously, he
was vice president and general manager of Amazon.com's IMDb.com and
In-Theater businesses where he created all business functions and built the
division into one of the 50 most trafficked Web sites in the world. Prior
to Amazon.com, Satbir spent several years as an engagement manager at
McKinsey & Company where he led projects in several industries, including
electronics and banking. He holds a Ph.D. in Ceramics Engineering from MIT
and a B.Tech. degree from IIT in Bombay, India.
"Satbir is a very talented individual and we are thrilled to have him lead
the company's growth as CEO," said John Connors, partner at Ignition
Partner and member of the SecondSpace Board of Directors. "His leadership
skills, ability to deliver results and vast understanding of the second
home market make him a strong leader to drive SecondSpace forward in the
next phase of its evolution as a global online marketplace."
"I am very excited to pursue the opportunity before us and look forward to
working with our world-class team to continue our mission of connecting
people with everything they need to enjoy the second home lifestyle," said
Satbir Khanuja, CEO of SecondSpace. "With over 800,000 lifestyle
properties now listed on ResortScape.com and LandWatch.com, we continue to
see a huge demand for second home and investment properties from a broad
range of U.S. and international visitors, bringing great value to
developers and real estate professionals who are looking to connect with
highly motivated out-of-region buyers."
